Pete Epanchin, Ph.D. is an international leader in climate adaptation and natural resource management, with extensive experience guiding complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives that connect Earth observation, policy, and on-the-ground decision-making. He previously served at USAID as Climate Adaptation Team Lead, where he led efforts to operationalize the agency’s Climate Strategy and managed the SERVIR partnership with NASA, working across Africa, Asia, and the Americas to strengthen climate resilience, food and water security, forest and carbon management, and disaster risk reduction. Trained as an ecologist, Pete specializes in translating cutting-edge science into trusted, operational, co-developed solutions through strategic planning, network governance, and long-term partnerships that enable sustained impact.
