About the Program

The Regional Wildfire Mitigation Program (RWMP) Landscape Domain is a landscape-scale approach to reducing wildfire risk by integrating fire science, ecosystem restoration, and community stewardship. Led by SIG-NAL from 2021–2024 in partnership with the Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council and regional collaborators, this project supports landscape-scale wildfire resilience through landscape-scale analytics and planning, and nature-based solutions, such as vegetated “greenbelt buffers”. Grounded in adaptive management and long-term community stewardship, the Landscape Domain demonstrates how advanced geospatial analytics and nature-based solutions can deliver durable, replicable wildfire resilience outcomes for wildland–urban interface communities.
