AI Collaborative: Wildfires

About the Collaborative

The AI Collaborative: Wildfires (AIC:W) is a global, cross-sector initiative launched by Google.org to harness artificial intelligence for transformational wildfire preparedness, detection, and risk reduction. It involves coordinated funding and partnership with more than 15 leading nonprofits, academic institutions, government agencies, and technology organizations. The AIC:W promotes and coordinates cutting-edge AI research, operational technology to identify and track wildfires in near real time, quantify risk, and expand beneficial fire practices that reduce the scale and severity of catastrophic events. The AIC:W has catalyzed innovations, such as a multi-organization virtual satellite constellation for early, high-resolution wildfire detection, and convened science strategy workshops that connect new data streams to climate, community, and ecosystem outcomes.

Collaboration and Partnerships

Through regular partner convenings, shared tools, and coordinated science-to-practice pathways, the AIC:W aims to accelerate the deployment of AI-enabled wildfire solutions that strengthen resilience, support decision-making, and reduce harm to communities and landscapes worldwide.
