Planscape is an open-science decision-support platform for wildfire resilience planning. Built on best-available science—including the USDA Forest Service’s ForSys model, Forest Vegetation Simulator, and TreeMap—Planscape integrates fire behavior, vegetation dynamics, and ecosystem services into a single, transparent planning environment that supports cross-boundary and multi-year decision-making. Originally developed through a California-focused collaborative, Planscape is now expanding CONUS-wide with support from the U.S. Forest Service Research and Development branch and Google.org. Free to use, open source, and non-commercial by design, Planscape provides a shared analytical foundation to help agencies and partners prioritize treatment areas, evaluate tradeoffs, and coordinate investments in wildfire resilience at scale.
